Given Image
Considerations before retaking a simalar shot-
- Black and white image- this has created the contrast between the light in the hall and the light coming from the open door
- Number on door- this tells the audience that the doors belong to a flat or hotel
- Peep hole on door
I really struggled when retaking these doors. In our student flats a light automatically comes on when you enter the hall, and I only needed the natural light from the open door so will have to make sure I take the photograph without the light being on. Because of this I had to stand in the doorway of the open door, which resulted in their being a shadow in the natural light. I tried to stand by the side a little to get as little shadow as possible and resulted in the image below. I took the image originally in colour and then made it black and white to imitate the given image. I have also cropped the image down so no other doors are in the composition, this also imitates the narrower feel to the given image and this cropping has helped the focus being on the door.
In this second pair I have stepped to side to limit the shadow seen. The left image is the cropped version of the taken image, and in the right photograph I have turned up the contrast to show the natural light against the dark hallway, as in the given photo.
Looking back at the given image I have realized that the door needs to be closed more. This will be hard to achieve as it will mean photographing the closed door from the hallway somehow. I will also have to manipulate a new number plate onto the door, as on this door the number is scratched, I will also have to manipulate a peep hole onto the door like the original but this won't be very hard to do.
