Using his experiments of motion he wanted to know if during a horses gallop if at any point none of its legs are touching the floor. By photographing the horse frame by frame he was able to see that there are times when all legs are off the ground. His work seemed to change the whole meaning of photography, by being able to capture every half second of a movement it moved the boundaries of photography further than it had ever gone before.
In this short video the images of Eadward Muybridges' have been put together to show the motion of a buffalo.
